SolidWorks users unite

UK reseller and support provider for SolidWorks products, Solid Solutions, will be running a seminar in conjunction with SolidCAM UK.

SolidCAM is a SolidWorks ‘Gold Certified' partner product providing an integrated SolidWorks CAM solution.

The event will be held from 9am to 5.30pm at Iscar Tools' UK headquarters in Birmingham on 16th May 2013 and will focus on two main areas: iMachining – which is said to provide a significant leap forward in terms of material removal rates and the reduction of cycle times; and the seamless integration between CAD, CAM and CNC machine that is possible with SolidWorks, SolidCAM with iMachining and a CNC machine tool.

According to SolidCAM, savings of up to 70% on machining time and a threefold increase in tool life are just two of the benefits achievable through the use of iMachining 2D/3D modules. The company claims that iMachining brings efficiency to a new level for CAM users via optimal toolpath generation and a Technology Wizard for the automatic calculation of optimal cutting conditions in terms of feeds, speeds, and depth and width of cut.

Using ‘Controlled Step Over' technology, the iMachining toolpath ensures that the cutting conditions set by the Wizard are strictly adhered to. The iMachining ‘Level Slider' lets the user choose from eight selectable levels to automatically adjust for fixture, tool holding and machine conditions.

“We'll start from the basics, creating simple 3D geometry from scratch in SolidWorks and then demonstrate the seamless switch into SolidCAM where the iMachining module will be unveiled,” enthused Solid Solutions' regional sales manager, Dave Warner.

“iMachining is a new, intelligent system that adjusts automatically to material, geometry, cutters and machine tool capability to lead the user through the entire optimisation operation enabling existing equipment to run faster and deeper with even the smallest tools on the hardest materials. Once the part is programmed, we'll demonstrate the machining live on a CNC mill.

“Finally, once we've demonstrated the powerful combination of SolidWorks and SolidCAM, attendees will have ample opportunity to fire questions at our team of certified engineers,” he concluded. Interested parties are invited to register for the event at the link below. Solid Solutions
