Solutions by name, solutions by nature

GF Machining Solutions (previously GF AgieCharmilles) is holding an open house at its Coventry facility from 11-13 March 2014.

The EDM, milling and laser ablation machine tool specialist and automation systems solutions provider is using the event to launch a number of new machines into the UK via a series of innovative machining demonstrations.
The event, branded as the ‘Know-how Show-how' open house will be the first the company has held since it changed its name from GF AgieCharmilles to GF Machining Solutions in January 2014.

“The emphasis and focus of the event is on best practice machining solutions and the many different ways our technologies can help make manufacturers become more productive and more profitable,” explained managing director, Martin Spencer.

“The Know-how element is provided by our experienced team of engineers who will be available throughout the three days to talk directly to visitors about the new technologies on view, and to discuss any specific manufacturing challenges they may be confronting.

“The Show-how aspect is provided by the new AgieCharmilles EDM, Mikron milling machines and system 3R automation and workholding systems on view being put through their paces undertaking a variety of challenging machining demonstrations.”

The new machines featured will include the high productivity AgieCharmilles Form 20 die-sinker with integrated tool (electrode) changer; the AgieCharmilles Cut 300mS wire EDM machine equipped with a powerful and fast generator and an active thermo-stabilisation system for increased accuracy and process reliability; and the flexible AgieCharmilles Cut 2000S twin wire EDM model.

The new milling machines comprise a Mikron HEM 500U 5-axis machine and a Mikron HSM 500C – a new high-speed 3-axis machine with an integrated dust/mist extraction system for machining hard materials and graphite.

“This event, unlike many other open houses, is different and is focused on proven, best practice machining solutions,” Mr Spencer adds. “It features hands-on machining demonstrations, provides the opportunity to meet and talk directly to our engineers and is practical in nature making it ideal for customers looking to increase productivity, reduce leadtimes, improve part accuracies and surface finishes and reduce cost per part.”

The opening times for the event are 9am - 5.30pm on Tuesday 11th March and Thursday 13th March. On Wednesday 12th March, the opening times are extended to allow visitors to attend after normal working hours with doors closing at 9.30pm.
