Autosport International, Europe's largest motorsport trade show kicks off the 2011 motorsport season at the NEC, Birmingham, with Autosport Engineering showcasing the best in UK and international

motorsport engineering on 13-14 January 2011, followed by the public days on 15-16 January.

Centred in the UK's motorsport valley, the British motorsport industry is worth £4.6 billion in annual turnover, employs 38,500 people, about 25,000 of whom are engineers. Autosport International has been the industry's top show for the past two decades, attracting over 85,000 people in 2010, among which were 28,600 motorsport trade buyers, travelling to Birmingham from over 50 different countries and generating £750 million worth of business. Nearly 600 exhibitors showcased their latest products and innovations, holding over a hundred launches throughout the four day show.

In the latest Autosport International survey, 77% of the industry buyers considered the show as an important place to do business, while 83% made a purchase as a result of visiting the show.
In 2011 Autosport International will again play host to Europe's largest collection of industry leading companies from all over the globe. Machine tools manufacturers Haas Automation, Mazak and XYZ Machine Tools are all exhibiting, alongside measuring equipment specialists Faro UK and Baty International. A wide range of metal and composite material suppliers, such as Thyssenkrupp Materials, Titanium Engineers, and for the first time REM Surface Engineering, will all be there and new exhibitors are still signing up every week.

Aurora Bearing Company, the world's largest manufacturer of rod bearings is heavily involved not only in racing but also in the aircraft and aerospace industries. “We have been at Autosport International almost since the beginning, exhibiting there for the past 15 years,” says Race Car product manager John McCrory. “It is a unique and unmatched venue not only to sell but also to promote and explain your products to UK and European audiences.”

Several Autosport International exhibitors are also producers of crossover technologies, overstepping the boundaries of the motorsport industry. ATL Racing Fuels has expanded its range of fuel cells from race cars to aircraft, aerospace and military products. Gearbox manufacturer Xtrac presented its marine propulsion system at 2010 show, while coatings specialist Zircotec launched its flexible ceramic heat shield material aimed at aerospace and industrial engineering applications.

The 2011 show will be part of the inaugural International Motorsport Business Week, an extended range of high profile, globally attended business and networking events, including Race Tech's World Motorsport Symposium, the MIA Cleaner Racing Conference, the MIA Awards Dinner, MIA Workshops, the UKTI International Business Exchange, as well as the Motorsport Safety Fund's ‘Watkins Lecture'.
“Autosport International has long been considered the start of the motorsport season, with its trade shows essential events for everyone within the industry,” enthuses Autosport International's show director, Ian France. “Each year companies travel from around the world to exhibit and the introduction of International Motorsport Business Week will allow them to make the most of their long journey by facilitating meetings to maintain existing relationships as well as build new ones.”
