Stepping down on an all time high

With the company's turnover and growth breaking all records and 2011 firmly on track to be the most successful year in its history, tooling specialist, Mapal UK has announced that on 31st December 2011, John Claypole will be stepping down from the role of managing director after 18 years in the position.
 
Mr Claypole, who has been the company for 31 years in total will continue to be a company director throughout 2012, but will no longer be responsible for day to day operations.

Mr Claypole's successor will be Wayne Whitehouse who will take up the new appointment of general manager on 1st January 2012. Mr Whitehouse has been with Mapal for more than 17 years in which time he has worked in manufacturing, the service department and as a sales and applications engineer. His current role is area manager for high profile accounts.

“Working with Mapal and being given the opportunity to set-up and develop such a thriving UK operation has, for me, been a dream come true,” Mr Claypole affirmed. “Throughout my time with the company, I have received outstanding support from Dr Kress, the owner of Mapal and from many others at our German headquarters. I'd also like to pay tribute to our UK staff, many of whom have been with me since I first set up the UK business in 1993. Without their effort and dedication, success would have been impossible.”

Mr Whitehouse commented: “I'm delighted to be taking up the new position of general manager at such an exciting time in the company's history, and I'll be working closely with John to ensure that our momentum in the marketplace continues to thrive and develop. We have some very ambitious plans for future growth, including a major expansion in our aerospace operations.

“Although the economic indicators are, at present, rather uncertain, I have every confidence in the future of Mapal as one of Europe's most successful, innovative and well respected suppliers to the engineering sector.”
