Tebis, a specialist in CAD/CAM and MES process solutions will once again be demonstrating its capabilities at Seco Tool’s Inspiration Through Innovation event.

This two day event aims to create an inspiring and practical environment that is customer focused and demonstrates to visitors the improvements in productivity and performance that can be achieved by collaboration, sharing best practice and working in partnership. There shall be a series of seminars, tutorials and demonstrations at the event.

Tebis demonstrations will be taking place on both days; it will involve the machining of real components with the focus on aerospace component manufacturing. Tebis CAD/CAM will demonstrate the live machining demonstration of an Airbus A350 steel fuel connector on a Hermle C32 U 5-axis machine with full 5-axis simultaneous milling.

The reliability requirements for aerospace parts leaves no room for manufacturer error. Therefore, the most stringent demands for reliability, quality and efficiency must be met. Tebis CAD/CAM designed 5-axis simultaneous milling for a simple and fast roughing operation which removes the maximum amount of material in a single operation by utilising full 5-axis motion. There is a huge time saving on the operation when machining on non-linear areas.

Andrew Walters, application engineer from Tebis UK commented: “Traditionally roughing would employ small step-downs with a larger width of a cut calculated in a water-line fashion method. With Tebis, we will use a 5-axis simultaneous motion to allow us to get down into complex forms. In addition to the traditional water line method, Tebis can use adaptive roughing.”

As well as an increase in tool life and operation accuracy by giving a more consistent volume of roughed material on a part, the finishing tools need to do less work. An additional benefit of this process is a more consistent volume of roughed material on a part.

Tebis CAD/CAM provides a single environment for all manufacturing needs and requirements including CAD/CAM processes like optimisation, standardisation, automation, 2D to 5-axis Milling, 5-axis trimming, laser cutting, mill turn, reverse engineering, MES – manufacturing data management, data acquisition and production planning.

Inspiration Through Innovation is held at Seco UK’s headquarters in Alcester. The event is free to visitors, and doors open on both days at 09.00, closing at 19.00 on the 9th October and 16.00 on the 10th October.
