The creation of automation

AP&T designs, manufactures and markets automation, presses, tools and complete production lines for the sheetmetal and tube forming industry.

It delivers complete production systems where it assumes complete supplier responsibility – a concept which it calls One Responsible Partner.

Latest developments for the company include a concept for press hardening and a new generation of automation, with everything aimed at improving productivity. The aptly named SpeedFeeder 240, which can accommodate weights up to 240kg, has been specially developed for press hardening lines, feeding parts between the furnace and the press. It is particularly suitable for applications with heavy grippers.

"This is a robust solution that satisfies our customers' needs in terms of effectively performing heavy lifting and moving,” says Peter Karlsson, managing director of AP&T Denmark/UK. “SpeedFeeder 240 is fundamentally designed to match our furnace concept – Multilayer Furnace – where several furnace modules are stacked on top of each other. This requires a great deal of lifting capacity."

This is the first of several products based on a new standardised module system. The program also includes SpeedFeeder 130 and it will also eventually be possible to produce monobars and transfer feeders for demanding tasks with the same modules.

"This is the same idea we have been implementing with our smaller SpeedFeeders for quite some time,” continues Mr Karlsson. “By using standard parts, we can quickly produce a reliable and cost-efficient solution for every customer. We have moved up to a new weight class with the new program."
