Thermal independence

The new Heli Contour Check (HCC) optical measuring device announced by K?r Schleifring allows integrated measurement of tooling in situ on Walter Helitronic tool grinders.

The new Heli Contour Check (HCC) optical measuring device announced by Körber Schleifring UK of Honiley near Kenilworth allows integrated measurement of tooling in situ on Walter Helitronic tool grinders.

According to the manufacturer, this not only saves time but, critically, also allows measurements to be made in the same set-up without thermal influence. Measuring results have been shown to be within a repeatability of ±1.5µm.

Capable of accommodating round tools of 3mm to 115mm diameter, HCC can be easily mounted in seconds to the Helitronic grinding head with a self centring adaptor which obviates the need for calibration. Once the workpiece and protective glass of the powerful high speed backlight camera are automatically cleaned, measuring commences with a program automatically generated from the Walter Window Mode Package 7 grinding IDN.

Walter's Form Tool Compensation (FTC) software automatically performs any required compensation and directly transfers the tool correction DXF to the grinding program. Multiple Walter Helitronic grinders with Fanuc CNC and glass scales can be served by a single HCC unit.
