25 years of deep hole drilling solutions

Founded in 1994, Tibo Tiefbohrtechnik GmbH specialises in the design and manufacture of high-precision, fast-working and durable deep drilling machines.

The company, which is represented internationally through a global sales network, is now one of the world's leading suppliers of single- and multi-spindle single-lip and BTA deep drilling machines, covering a wide range of applications. Thanks to a modular system, products can be tailored precisely to the requirements of each customer and their specific drilling tasks.

Together with collaborating partner Gehring Technologies, Tibo can also offer end-to-end process solutions from deep drilling to honing. The engineering company, which is part of a medium-sized holding group with interests in 14 companies and more than 1,000 employees, is headquartered in Pfullingen, Baden-Württemberg.

Hot off the press is the news that Tibo has extended its range of single-lip deep drilling machines with the launch of a new model, the single spindle E40 //1-1000, which can accommodate drilling diameters from 5-40mm to depth up to 1,000mm.

The machine features a 17kW Siemens Sinamics spindle drive which provides the power to reach a maximum spindle speed of 6,000rpm. Feed rate is 4,500mm/minute and the machine occupies a footprint 5.5 x 3.5 x 2.3m.

Single lip deep drilling differs from BTA in terms of the inflow of the coolant which is introduced under high pressure into the interior of the drill spindle and exiting at the drill head to ensure cooling there.

The removal of swarf takes place together with the coolant via the bead, a V-shaped longitudinal groove which is attached to the outside of the tool shaft. Single-lip deep hole drilling is used primarily for filigree deep hole drilling work because of the high-quality results that can be achieved.

This year, Tibo is commemorating 25 years of experience in the marketplace. To mark this anniversary, the company raffled off a Vespa scooter during the EMO trade fair. It has now been handed over to the winner, Markus Schmidt of Winkelmann Powertrain Components GmbH, in a ceremony at Tibo’s factory in Pfullingen.

"With such an attractive prize, the raffle at EMO definitely helped drive the impressive visitor figures to our stand, but the real reason for so much traffic was the high level of interest in our solutions,” says Jost Eppinger, Tibo’s managing director.

In this case, the presentation of our latest deep drilling machine, the E40//1-1000, drew considerable attention with its new design, its wide range of extensions and numerous improvements."
