When AMB 2016, the international exhibition for metalworking, opens its gates from 13-17 September 2016 in Stuttgart, visitors will experience not only one of the world's biggest trade fairs for the international machine tool industry and precision tool sector, but also an extensive framework programme. It will cover promotion of the younger generation and include several competitions, as well as the careers trade fair.

For the first time in the programme, the ‘AMB Experts' Lounge’ in hall 6 will feature six industry experts reporting on the latest innovations in automation, autonomous manufacture, energy efficiency, additive manufacturing, lightweight construction and productivity reserves. In dedicated ‘Lounge Corners’, visitors can arrange personal one to one meetings.

Elsewhere, on the ‘Metal Working Innovation Tour’ organised by the Institute for Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools (PTW) under the banner ‘Trends of Tomorrow’ visitors can gain an insight into six innovation themes: Industry 4.0; process reliability in complete machining; energy efficiency; lean machining; robots in metal cutting; and additive manufacturing. Guided tours around the stands will provide a thorough overview.

At AMB 2016 there will be a number of competitions aimed at younger people looking to pursue a career in manufacturing such as the ‘MM MaschinenMarkt Award’ and the ‘Lathe Operator of the Year’. Haas Automation will be providing the turning centres for the competition where, following a selection process, five operators will compete against each other, performing demanding tasks live at the trade fair.

In total, more than 90,000 visitors and over 1,300 exhibitors are expected to attend AMB 2016. From around 105,000m² of floor space, the latest innovations and developments in machine tools, cutting tools, measuring systems and metrology equipment, automation and robotics, workholding equipment and software will be on show.
