Trescal opens new measurement and calibration facility in the East Midlands

Trescal, a specialist provider of global calibration and measurement solutions, has opened its new facility in Derby – claimed to be the UK’s only UKAS accredited rotary table measurement testing facility.

Located at Pride Park, Derby, the 25,000ft2 facility has cost over £2 million to build and features a large scale CMM with rotary table measurement. Offering measurement volumes of 2.1m x 4.4m x1.6m, the CMM allows component parts of up to 10 metric tonnes to be measured – ideal for the aerospace and automotive industries.

The site features six laboratories all operating under strict climatic conditions, in order to meet rigorous standards set by UKAS. The facility took around seven months to complete, and is now home to 46 employees. The skilled professionals bring expertise to the East Midlands, offering a variety of technical capabilities including dimensional, electrical, temperature, pressure and vacuum and torque type calibrations, supported by product verification measurements.

The measurement laboratory now features two brand new CMMs, the first with rotary table measurement and the second, a high accuracy machine that offers a measurement performance capability (MPE) of 0.0009mm + L/650mm. The new capabilities enable businesses requiring large and accurate product measurements to utilise this modern facility.

Steve Powell, branch manager at Trescal Derby said: “The new Trescal Derby facility is a hub for extensive calibration expertise, strategically placed to support British manufacturing in the East Midlands and beyond.

“We have made a significant investment in the facility and through our enhanced capabilities are expertly positioned to support the many manufacturing and precision engineering companies located within this area. Our ability to offer a one-stop-shop for calibration services at this level, we believe, sets us apart from the competition and ensures we continue to deliver high end accuracy in-line with customer requirements.”

The Trescal Group offers national and global calibration expertise, backed by UKAS accreditation standards via eight laboratories and 18 customer satellite locations.
