Tricorn appoints Alasdair Pettigrew as new CEO

UK manufacturing software company, Tricorn Systems, has appointed Alasdair Pettigrew as its new CEO.

Tricorn Systems is part of the Valuechain Enterprise Systems Group following its acquisition in 2016, and has grown profits and customer base in the two years following.

On his appointment, Mr Pettigrew commented: “To join Tricorn at this stage is a fantastic opportunity and I’m delighted to be here. I am inspired by great technology and meaningful innovation – the kind that makes a positive and valuable contribution to society. I firmly believe that the business of manufacturing is at the heart of answering many of the huge challenges facing the world. Our software will help facilitate and enable these crucial advances.

“Tricorn is currently in a strong position as a manufacturing software provider, but as the wave of innovation through the fourth industrial revolution is ever-increasing, we’re seeing a need to adopt more than the critical foundations of production control, ERP/MRP solutions. We want to better position ourselves to service these emerging needs by further advancing our technology to help existing and future customers meet the changes that are already impacting industry.”

Mr Pettigrew is an experienced business leader and technology advocate. He qualified as a mechanical engineer with an International Diploma in Advanced Aerospace Studies (ECATA).

His career has seen him work in industry with BAE Systems and Black & Decker before discovering a passion for technology, joining IBM where he worked for 15 years leading teams in engagements across the breadth of the manufacturing industry. Most recently, Mr Pettigrew led an innovative early-stage software company to international sales success prior to joining Tricorn Systems.

The appointment comes as current managing director, Colin Reardon announces his retirement date of 31st March 2019. His departure comes after more than 10 years in the role; overseeing the development of Tricorn’s flagship product Tricorn:Production into a leading production control solution and growing the customer base from 100 to 260, guiding Tricorn through its most successful period.

Tom Dawes, Group CEO, commented: “Alasdair brings a wealth of commercial, technical and operational experience to the role as well as an acute understanding of our customers and the manufacturing technology industry.

“Building on the stable foundations and continued growth established by Colin, we are excited about the future direction of Tricorn under Alasdair’s leadership to digitalise manufacturing SMEs.”
