War on waste

Aqueous-based component cleaning specialist, MecWash Systems and its dedicated wastewater treatment division, Aqua-Save Technologies, are both using MACH 2010 to present new equipment developments on show for the first time in the UK under the themes of processing cost control and environmental improvement.

In the spotlight will be the new Aqua-Save Junior 2 waste water treatment system. As with its larger capacity stablemate, the Aqua-Save 30, the concept uses evaporation to process a range of wastewaters – from machining coolants through to floor scrubbings and compressor condensate – to reduce disposal requirements and water usage. Once separated, typically only 5% of the original solution volume needs to be removed from site with the rest available for re-use or, with appropriate permissions, discharge to drain. Comparable in size to a four drawer filing cabinet, the Aqua-Save Junior 2 shares the mobility of its predecessor and can handle up to 15 litres of waste solution per hour across a wider range of more heavily contaminated substances. Built-in intelligent sensors firstly assess the composition of incoming solution, adjust the operational process accordingly, and then control the automatic chemical dosing system, where required, to maximise separation efficiency. With an integral waste collection drum, handling and repositioning around a factory is now easier, emphasising the practicality and adaptability of the Aqua-Save concept for a range of manufacturing and engineering applications. Where appropriate, however, a more permanent facility can be installed by specifying either the Aqua-Save Junior 2 or the Aqua-Save 30 – which can process up to 40 litres of solution per hour – as built-in elements of other related systems, such as a component washing units. Alongside this, MecWash Systems is showcasing the MecWash Duo for the first time. The new unit features a twin wash and rinse tank design and is able to deliver both a high volume, immersion and spray wash stage and a powerful spray rinse stage plus hot air dry to deliver high cleaning power and excellent flexibility – particularly in the context of its compact footprint and competitive price. “We believe that all manufacturing industries are focusing heavily on controlling costs while, at the same time, looking to enhance their environmental performance,” comments John Pattison, managing director of MecWash Systems and Aqua-Save Technologies. “The units that we are showing for the first time – and indeed the full range of both Aqua-Save and MecWash Systems designs which will also be detailed on our stand – meet these two requirements head on, particularly in the context of solvent replacement. We are confident that they will open up significant opportunities for all visitors to our stand.” MecWash Systems
