Large turning-drilling-milling centres for the complete processing of complex and high-precision workpieces has been a speciality of WFL for three decades now. With the M100, M120, M150 and M175 models, WFL Millturn Technologies presents a premium class of multi-functional machines.

Complete machining of complex workpieces up to 12m in length becomes a reality. In addition to the high performance and torque values of the spindle drives, powerful feed forces on all axes ensure impressive dynamics and optimum productivity. High attention to detail and a modular machine concept complete the package.

The M175 Millturn is a large machine by anyone’s standards. The new turning-boring-milling unit offers a maximum swing diameter of 1,750mm and can accommodate workpieces up to 15.000kg comfortably due to its new, large-sized bed guideway for steady rest and tailstock.

The M175 has an X-stroke of 1,620mm and a Y-stroke of 1,100mm and can therefore be used uncompromisingly and universally – on deep radial machining for example.

Due to the large volume box structure of the machine’s cross slide with a wide bed guide base and multiple arrangement of ground gliding guideways in the X- and Z-axis, the tool carrier system exhibits particularly high stability. The rigid, stable construction is combined with proven main and milling spindle systems – the 113kW and 58kW drives are reliable in their performance.

The HSK-A100 tool interface that is provided as standard, in addition to the optional Capto C8, also guarantees full utilisation of the potential offered by this device and by its turning power. High-performance drives maximise the feed strength and ensure a processing speeds that WFL says is unrivalled in a machine of these dimensions. Through the B-axis, the workpiece can be machined at any angle and, if needed, using 5-axis interpolation.

The M175 Millturn is ideally suited for both heavy machining and high-precision finishing. From a technological perspective, the list of potential applications is wide, for example: large landing legs, crankshafts, turbine and generator shafts and valve blocks, and shafts and rollers used in heavy industry.

Tools with lengths up to 900mm and a weight up to 35kg can be accommodated in the tool magazine with up to 200 tool stations. In terms of automation options, WFL Millturn Technologies and its subsidiary Frai Robotic Solutions have decades of expertise and offer a variety of automation variations for different requirements to maximise productivity.

The comprehensive range of products includes straightforward loading using articulated robots, a wide variety of gripper systems and gantry loaders with peripheral transport and storage systems for workpieces, tools and jaws – ideal for unmanned operations.

In the UK, WFL is represented by Leicestershire-based Kyal Machine Tools.
