Wired up

Taiwanese EDM specialist Joemars, through UK agent Eurospark, has announced significant changes to its wire machine range.

The WT Series, which is well established and cost effective with models beginning at around £40K, has this year been improved in two important areas – smaller footprint and faster cutting.

Faster and more efficient cutting speeds are achieved by a new SPR circuit that provides a claimed improvement of up to 40% on previous models, dependent upon the material type being machined. In terms of machine size in the workshop a saving of almost 1,000mm has been achieved in the width of the machine by revising the position of the water filtration system.

Like its predecessors, the new WT model range is deliberately aimed at providing cost effectiveness with high levels of quality and performance. The range offers both submerged cutting and coaxial flushing models with a choice of manual or automatic wire feed versions.

The smallest machine is the compact AWT 3S which has an X, Y, Z capacity of 350mm x 250mm x 210mm respectively with a maximum workpiece capacity of 850mm x 560mm x 205mm. For large workpieces the AWT1275S takes a massive five tonnes on the worktable and up to 1650mm x 1,050mm x 450mm in terms of workpiece size. Travels are 1,200mm x 700mm x 450mm.

Available on all versions is an efficient and reliable auto wire feed system that not only provides auto threading underwater but also auto back off and auto rethread if a wire break occurs. As standard, all machines are fitted with a chiller and a fine finish circuit. A hardened worktable and centralised lubrication system is standard on all machines.
