XYZ expands sales and testing floorspace

With a year-on-year increase in turnover at over 25% and a growing product portfolio, XYZ Machine Tools has increased its overall floorspace by 25%.

The addition of another 25,000ft² of space will enable additional machines to be prepared for customers, with every machine undergoing 168 hours of testing prior to delivery, while maintaining XYZ’s commitment to on-time machine deliveries.

The machine tool supplier’s range now encompasses more than 50 machines and their variants, and with customer demand for any one of those machines being up to 10 units per month, the company says holding sufficient stock is vital.

“We maintain a stock of over 350 machines at our Devon headquarters covering the full range of machines from an XYZ bandsaw through to the UMC-5X simultaneous 5-axis machining centre. With the increase in demand that we have seen in 2018 and a prediction for growth to continue into 2019 the additional of this new floorspace will help us to meet that demand,” says Nigel Atherton, managing director.

Machine stock at the Devon headquarters is made up of a mix of machines in-build and those under test in preparation for delivery; a process that involves extensive machine running and checks, such as the Renishaw Ballbar test to ensure that any machine shipped meets stringent quality and accuracy requirements laid down in XYZ’s procedures.

The company says whether it is a ProtoTRAK mill or lathe or, a more complex CNC lathe or machining centre, customers can be confident that when it arrives at their premises it will be able to go straight into production.

“We have developed a reputation for delivering on-time and to exacting standards of machine quality, the addition of this space will ensure this high standard of service and delivery capability is maintained,” Mr Atherton concludes.
