One of Yorkshire’s premier laser cutting and metal fabrication companies has won over a new customer with its impressive service and product quality.

GE Mitchell Electrical came across Yorkshire Laser and Fabrication (YLF) when frustrated by late delivery, poor quality and lacklustre communication provided by its existing supplier.

The Brighouse-based electrical engineering specialist which designs and manufactures custom made control panels for a range of industries including textiles, rubber and food, wanted a new supplier to make the bespoke metal enclosures to house its control units and wiring.

“After a comprehensive search, Matt Orford, technical director at YLF not only provided a good price but came out to visit us and showed the most interest by talking through our processes and making suggestions as to how we could improve what we offer our customers,” explained Matt Taylor, director at GE Mitchell Electrical.

That was in September last year and since then Normanton-based YLF has produced numerous bespoke enclosures for GE Mitchell Electrical.

Mr Taylor added: “They helped us originally with a new customer. I did the initial design and sent it through to YLF to recreate on their CAD/CAM system. The 3D PDF proof they provide is ideal as I can rotate it and make sure it is exactly how I want the finished item to look from all angles. They then fabricate it supplying us on time with a quality product.”

Demand for GE Mitchell Electrical’s bespoke panels can fluctuate but the company has hit a busy period and YLF has risen to the occasion: “We have put quite a lot of orders YLF’s way recently. Not only have they been able to handle them – they have repeatedly met their guaranteed delivery which is a big thing for us,” Mr Taylor enthused.

Matt Orford, YLF’s managing director said the company was delighted to receive GE Mitchell Electrical’s seal of approval: “We pride ourselves on working with our customers to deliver what they want, when they want it and at a cost they are expecting. Quality and customer service are paramount and by delivering on these we build sound partnerships with customers that last,” he commented.

Yorkshire Laser provides CNC laser cutting and fabrication for the automotive, telecommunications, healthcare, pharmaceutical, lighting and oil and gas sectors. The company even made the light brackets for the iconic Burj Khalifa building in Dubai
