The US Department of Energy and its national labs are supporting early-stage research on additive manufacturing that can ultimately be adopted by industry to drastically reduce the time it takes to design, build and certify nuclear systems.

Nuclear energy is a carbon-free energy source that brings resilience and reliability to the electric grid. The Office of Nuclear Energy works with US industry and other stakeholders to extend the life cycles of America’s current fleet of reactors and to develop new technologies that will help meet future environmental and energy goals.
