Advanced Engineering 2023: Machining from every angle

XYZ Machine Tools will have three machines on display at Advanced Engineering demonstrating the latest in its CNC machine range.

The machines on the stand will include a RLX 425 lathe, a RMX 3500 bed mill and a 750 TMC machining centre. All feature XYZ’s ProtoTRAK control – said to be the simplest on the market by the company. It has been almost 30 years since XYZ introduced the ProtoTRAK control into the UK market – the company says the control has revolutionised machine shops, bridging the gap between manual and full CNC machines.

The 750 TMC (Toolroom Machining Centre) features an enclosed bed mill with Automatic Tool Changer (ATC). The 750 TMC is considered an ideal machine for one-off and small batch production.

XYZ’s range of RMX bed mills are used across the UK with the ProtoTRAK control allowing operators to choose between running the machines in manual or CNC mode.

There are four CNC bed mills in the range, each with different sizes and capabilities ranging from the RMX 2500 to the RMX 5000. Each bed mill is ideal for low volume production milling or turning, and can produce pockets, profiles, slots, and more.

Also ideal for low volume production, the range of Proturn lathes from XYZ features the RLX touchscreen ProtoTRAK control. The RLX 425 is available as a 1.25m and 2m gap bed lathe with a swing over bed of 480mm and spindle bore of 80mm. Maximum spindle speed is 2,500rpm.
