A manufacturer in the West Midlands has secured a £3.6 million contract supplying complex machined parts for Airbus.

The three-year contract, which will supply components to a major aerospace company in the Midlands, is for Airbus's A220 single-aisle aircraft programme.

Obtaining an order of this scale, after civil aerospace manufacturing dropped following the COVID-19 pandemic , is a huge vote of confidence for the company and the sector.

This contract will see AE Aerospace growing back to the sales levels seen in 2019 and will ensure the company can maintain employment for skilled staff, whilst providing additional supply chain work in the West Midlands.

The three-year contract reflects AE Aerospace’s continuous investment in its facilities, manufacturing technologies and the team.

Ultimately, it is the investment in improved machining which resulted in a price reduction for the customer. In securing this agreement, AE Aerospace has demonstrated the ability to meet the competitive demands of cost, quality and performance expected.

Managing director Peter Bruch said: "With the well documented reduction in civil aerospace work and employment in 2020 due to COVID-19, this new order is a welcome boost to the West Midlands and maintains work in the UK."

AE Aerospace has consistently demonstrated the ability to meet the demands expected by customers and 2021 will see AE Aerospace’s order book continue to grow.
