Getting heavy
Ajax Machine Tools in Lymington, Hampshire is known or its good value CNC flatbed lathes. This legacy continues with a new heavier range called the Super Turn, equipped with the easy to use Fanuc Turn mate i touchscreen control.
With a heavier construction and new design, Ajax believes this range of machines will be a welcome addition in any company. New features include independent handwheels saddle mounted for ease of operation, along with controls and E Stop for safer use. A new guard design allows ease of access for bigger jobs.
Other features include removable rear guards for ease of maintenance, better swarf management at the rear, a removable coolant tank for ease of cleaning and a choice of four way or eight station turrets.
Additionally, the machine can utilise Camlock or DIN spindles along with a wide range of high quality chucks, steadies and accessories. Other options include upgrading the control to Manual Guide I or Siemens 828D with Shopturn.
The range extends from 400mm swing on the AJST400 with 1,000mm between centres, 500mm swing on the AJST500 with 750, 1,250 and 2,000mm between centres, and 600mm swing on the AJST600 with 750, 1,250, 2,000mm between centres. Spindle bore sizes range from 52 to 86mm
Programming times are greatly reduced due to simple cycles that operators can understand very quickly and easily to make complex parts in minutes. The control also has full ISO G Code programming capability for offline CAD/CAM operations that can be entered from RS232, USB or flash card systems, making this system a great all-rounder in the field of teach CNC lathes.
