And the winner is – Faro!

Faro has won the ‘3D scanner company of the year’ award at the 2017 3D Printing Industry Awards.

Hosted by 3Dprintingindustry.com during May, the gala event brought together many leading international companies involved in all aspects of 3D printing.

Manufacturers of 3D printers, scanners, software companies, material providers and designers leading the ‘new industrial revolution’ were joined by leading educators from the 3D printing world for the prestigious event at the historic Chelsea Old Town Hall, London.

“Given the standard of our fellow nominees competing for the 3D scanner company of the year award, we were delighted with our success,” enthused Dave Southam, regional manager Europe North at Faro Technologies. “As Faro scanners are particularly suited to the demands of the 3D printing industry our sales in this exciting global sector continue to grow at a phenomenal rate.

“In addition to recently launched state-of-the-art Faro scanners satisfying current sector demands, new company developments will ensure that Faro technology keeps pace with the rapidly evolving 3D printing industry.”

Michael Petch, editor-in-chief of 3Dprintingindustry.com added: “With over 800 nominations and more than 200,000 votes, the winners and those nominated by readers for the shortlists are all remarkable enterprises. I congratulate Faro on their award in what was a particularly competitive category.”

The trophies for each award category were designed and created by Goldsmiths’ designer Morgan Morey, who used a sculpture praised by ancient Roman art writer Pliny the Elder, from 2nd century BC as the starting point.
