APT Leicester has invested £300,000 in four new machines to increase its productivity.

The company offers a comprehensive subcontract machining service in the UK, working to the highest levels of AS 9100 and ISO 9001 standards. The company is known globally as a manufacturer of precision turned parts and multi-axis CNC machined components.

At the beginning of October 2018, APT took delivery of 2 new high precision lathes, a state-of-the-art image dimension measurement system and a high-speed chamfer machine.

This is all part of APT’s continuous investment programme throughout its manufacturing process – machining, finishing and ongoing inspection. By replacing older models, APT is increasing capacity and efficiency.

The two new multi-axis lathes are made by Doosan and supplied and commissioned by Mills CNC. Both the Puma TT1800SY and the Lynx 220LSTC offer high productivity and rapid accuracy, increasing APT’s turning capabilities. The new Keyence IM-7030T Instant Measurement System has an expanded stage and is able to measure up to 99 dimensions and more awkward shapes in seconds. The J&S Engineering STC250S chamfer machine will cut the cycle time to 20 seconds per operation.

Backed by on-site extensive operator training, these new additions will keep APT at the forefront of UK manufacturing.

Nick Baller, managing director at APT, said: "We have seen a trend through enquiries for larger diameter work. Customers sending a package of work like to keep it with the same supplier. We can now offer up to 65mm from bar and for the first time 300mm billet work".
