At the forthcoming IMTS exhibition taking place in Chicago from 10-15 September, Arno Werkzeuge will present a host of innovative new products and product enhancements such as the first production-ready 3D printed part-off modules and a brand-new quick-change modular tooling concept specifically designed for sliding head lathes.

The company will also be introducing a new range of AMS inserts with fully integrated through coolant supply to enhance the production capabilities of the program

Modern tooling technologies cannot always be supported by available manufacturing capabilities as was the case with part-off modules for multi-spindle machines with the compact nature of the tooling required meaning it was not possible to produce units with two coolant jets.

That was until Arno Werkzeuge developed a 3D printing process that made this possible. According to the company, this enhanced production technique means that a previously impossible task is now available as a standard offering with a full range of standard stock items available as part of the patented Arno ASC2 through coolant part-off systems

Alongside coolant supply, one of the biggest issues for sliding head lathe users are the difficulties and time taken when changing tools and inserts in, what can often be, areas of limited space.

With Arno’s new and innovative modular AFC tooling system these problems are eliminated due to the easy to use and rigid workholding systems offered. In addition, Arno is introducing a new tooling rail design meaning that once installed, the through coolant supply is maintained and constant with no need to replace and adjust coolant hoses by tool type.

Visitors to the Arno Werkzeuge stand at IMTS will also see a new program of AMS micro inserts which have enhanced through coolant supply capability where the coolant is fed through the insert directly to the cut point. An innovative method of coolant supply ensures the fluid is directed to different cutting areas meaning that emphasis can either be placed on cooling the cutting edge or removing the swarf from the cut zone to ensure problem free machining even in the longest of reach requirements and applications.

In addition to these new products, Arno will also be introducing a comprehensive range of product developments and line expansions in the drilling, grooving, milling and turning product portfolios as well as tool management.
