Autosport 2010: Made to measure

Portable measurement and imaging systems specialist, Faro will be exhibiting at the Autosport Engineering show on stand E1220.

As David Homewood, area vice president of sales for the UK, France and Benelux explains, the motorsport sector is an important market for the company. “Our company is very strong in this sector and the show will give us the chance to reach a broad audience,” he explains. “We will be showing our whole range of measuring arms and portable scanning systems. Our portable 3D measurement devices are widely used throughout the automotive and motorsport industry – it's vitally important to be at the forefront of technology and guarantee that the quality of parts, composites and the car itself meet the highest standards.” Visitors will have the chance to see live demonstrations of Faro's portable measurement systems. “Our aim is to make people realise how quick and easy measurements can be carried out,” Mr Homewood adds. “Many of our customers used stationary measuring equipment before switching to our portable systems, but through use of our equipment, leadtimes have been reduced significantly and quality has improved. This guarantees a very fast ROI.” One of Faro's customers, Force India F1, is using the FaroArm to carry out more accurate measurements in its wind tunnel with much quicker set-up times. Other customers from the motorsport sector include Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Fiat, Heggemann Autosport GmbH, Honda, Oreca, Pons Racing, Porsche, Renault, Seat, Toro Rosso and Williams F1. Faro
