Calder Precision Engineering (CPE) has invested £1 million in its people and capability division.

The investment has gained the company NADCAP approvals, new customers and four long term supply contracts being completed in the last quarter.

Executive chair at CPE, Tim Pryce, said: “Many companies are cutting investment and putting supply chains at risk. At Calder Precision Engineering we believe this is exactly the time when our customers need security of supply and for their partners to invest. In the last four months, Calder Precision Engineering has entered into four long term supply agreements. We are making good progress, in exceptional times, making new possibilities a reality.”

The Innocence to Excellence (I2E) Programme has enabled employees to be directly involved in enhancing core competencies, with over 400 hours per month in personnel training. This training is supported by a significant investment in an apprenticeship programme as well as equipment to support the changes highlighted through the I2E Programme.

A recent apprentice and now quality project engineer (special processes), Lilly Mason-Burton commented: “My time at Midland Aerospace has been a fantastic learning curve for me and the team has been very supportive. The formation of this new division enables us to learn about other markets, technologies, and the power of winning as a team.”

“In addition to investing in a Mazak Integrex i-800V/8S Multi-Tasking machine, the I2E programme has also highlighted some great opportunities leading to the purchase of several high-quality machines and chemical processing equipment, resulting in CPE gaining three NADACP certifications.”, commented Simon Payne, quality assurance manager at Midland Aerospace, one of Calder Precision Engineering’s businesses.

The equipment includes a new Saracen heat treat oven, a Zwick/Roell harness machine, a new chemical processing line and the introduction of an Alocrom coating line.
