Capable quartet

With four vertical machining centres on display, Ward CNC will illustrate to MACH visitors a varied capability for productive and cost-effective production routines for a wide range of workpieces.

Being demonstrated under power, the twin pallet, dual table Hyundai-Kia Hi-V50D features 40m/minute rapid traverse rates in X and Z and Fanuc 21iM CNC with Manual Guide-I programming. The machine's 600mm by 500mm table is complemented by X, Y and Z axes travels of 600mm x 460mm x 570mm and comes complete with a 30 tool ATC as standard, with tool to tool and chip to chip times of 2.1 seconds and 4.5 seconds respectively. From Ward CNC's range of Hartford machines will be the Blockbuster Pro-3210 double column vertical machining centre which has a 3,150mm by 2,040mm table capable of accommodating loads of 6,000kg. The machine incorporates X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 3,050mm x 2,100mm x 780mm, and feed rate in all axes is 7,000mm/minute, with rapid traverse rates in all axes of 12m/minute. Speeds of 6,000rpm are available via the 22kW spindle, which has an ISO 50 taper. With a table of 1,450mm by 800mm for workpieces weighing up to 1,600kg, the Hartford Tornado HCMC-13 heavy duty vertical machining centre will be demonstrated under power and cutting. The machine offers axes travels of 1,300mm in X by 800in Y and 660mm in Z. Rapid traverse rate is 16m/minute in all axes and cutting feed rate is 10,000mm/minute via the 4,000rpm (6,000/10,000)15/26kW spindle. The ATC offers 20 tools as standard. Also under power and cutting, the Hartford Power Centre Pro-1000 vertical machining centre offers travels of 1,000mm x 600mm x 630mm (XYZ) over the 1,1150mm by 600mm table that can handle loads of 700kg. Rapid traverse rate is 24m/minute in all axes and cutting feed rate is 12,000mm/minute. The 12.5kW motor offers 6,000rpm and the ATC accommodates 24 tools. In addition to four turning machines from Hyundai-Kia and two from Hankook, Ward CNC will also display the Soraluce TA-35A travelling table ram type CNC milling machine. Ward CNC's range of large-capacity Union machines will be represented by graphics displays and video footage and details will also be available of Ward CNC Finance as well as the activities of the Ward CNC Retrofit Division.
