Chichester subcontractor enhances machining capability

Axiom Product Development, the Chichester-based machining, tooling and plastic injection moulding business has taken delivery of two new DMG Mori DMU 5-axis machines to further increase its capacity.

The DMU 50 3rd generation machines, with swivelling rotary tables, allow for full 5-axis simultaneous machining and can process intricate components from solid materials enabling the company to produce complex jigs, fixtures and manufacturing aids for a wide breadth of customers from automotive, defence, aerospace, Formula 1, marine and general manufacturing.

The company has invested in the new machines in response to both the high demand from its customers for quality produced and engineered parts and the increasing number of business coming from new customers in new engineering sectors.

The team at Axiom has many decades of design and engineering experience and a proven history of assisting its customers to successfully develop and manufacture their products. The company operates in markets that require fast turnaround and the new DMG machines offer the latest technology to ensure a fast engineering response time of the highest quality.

Commenting on the new investment, Alan Rendle-Eames, managing director said: “The purchase of the new machines will offer greater capability with rapid response times for our customers.”

Axiom Product Development designs and manufactures precision tooling and patterns for use in a range of high tech sectors. The company operates from a purpose-built 1,200m² manufacturing site and employs a highly experienced team of CAD designers, machinists and experts in prototype tooling.
