Rugged precision

Portable 3D measurement solutions and engineering services specialist Creaform, has announced that Koenigsegg, the Swedish manufacturer of high-end, high performance sports cars, has selected its metrology technologies to assist with maintaining high standards of quality during the product development process.

Thanks to Creaform’s MetraSCAN 3D scanners, HandySCAN 3D scanners, and HandyPROBE portable coordinate measuring machine, Koenigsegg was able to scan on its automotive parts’ dark and highly reflective surfaces, and virtually eliminate noise during its product development and quality control analyses. With over 300 hand-formed carbon parts in every Koenigsegg car, Creaform’s inspection solutions provided the accuracy and reliability required by the engineering team, even under rugged shopfloor conditions, to inspect production parts and adjust jigs.

“Koenigsegg’s outstanding vision in the automotive industry has upped the game for all car manufacturers,” says David Gagné, Creaform’s division vice-president, engineering and metrology services. “The company is synonymous with quality and innovation, and the entire Creaform team is proud to have contributed to the project.”

“In MLT Maskin & Laser Teknik AB, we found a quality control technology provider that seamlessly integrated with our infrastructure, work methods and strict requirements,” explains Christian von Koenigsegg from Koenigsegg. “Companies in our market segment must always surpass customer expectations in every area. Our work with Creaform has proven to be an important link in our quality chain, keeping us at the top of our game and ahead of our competitors.”

Creaform will be exhibiting at the Control exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany, from May 9-12 2017 in hall 5, booth 5108. The company develops, manufactures, and sells 3D portable measurement technologies and specialises in engineering services. It offers innovative solutions such as 3D scanning, reverse engineering, quality control, non-destructive testing, product development, and numerical simulation (FEA/CFD).

Creaform is a business unit of Ametek Ultra Precision Technologies, a division of Ametek Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of $4 billion.

In the UK, Creaform products are sold and supported via Peterborough-based Measurement Solutions.
