Guyson bead blaster delivers the right finish

Guyson bead blaster delivers the right finish

Guyson International, one of the UK’s foremost industrial finishing equipment manufacturers, has recently installed a Guyson Euroblast 6SF (suction fed) blast cabinet into Optimill, a leading designer and manufacturer of CNC machined automotive components.

The blast cabinet is used to deliver a uniform surface finish on Optimill’s range of customised classic car – especially Land Rover – machined components by removing any machining marks and producing a bead blast finish to enhance the surface topography of the parts prior to anodising.

The company’s old existing blast cabinet had suffered from several operational problems, so Stephen Coates, Optimill’s managing director called on local company Guyson as he was looking for an improved blast cabinet solution with better operator ergonomic comfort and efficiency, it being equipped with large armholes enabling better reach; as the operator can spend prolonged amounts of time blasting.

“The cabinet is a great improvement over the previous one and delivers a great consistent surface finish which improves our subsequent component anodising process,” Mr Coates advises.

The chosen Euroblast 6SF blast cabinet is from Guyson’s premier industrial quality range and delivers exceptional component access, with doors opening to the front, top and side, and facilitates easy loading of components into an internal blast chamber with dimensions of: 1,050mm (W) x 740mm (D) x 880mm (H).

The cabinet itself comes equipped with large armhole sleeves for greater operator reach and a full width foot pedal for blast gun operation and use by either foot. An adjustable gun support arm allows the operator to manipulate the component under the blast gun instead of around the component and parts can then be cleaned down with the trigger operated airwash gun for post blast removal of residual media/dust.

Any larger pieces of debris removed by blasting are captured by the heavy-duty perforated steel floor and a secondary perforated steel floor in hopper captures smaller pieces of debris, thus reducing blockages in the blast hose/blast gun.

The blast unit was specified with a Guyson C400 dust collector, a highly efficient unit for filtering out and collecting the dust laden air from the blast cabinet using a single cartridge filter. The heavier extracted particles being deflected downwards towards the collection bin; the lighter particles are captured on the surface of the filter.
