To mark the occasion, Greg Clark MP attended a recent open day that focused on the presentation of completion certificates to two Muffett apprentices. Clearly visible to all those who attended were the professional principles upon which Muffett Gears' longevity and success has been based – namely investment in its people and equipment.
For many years the company has operated an apprenticeship training scheme and testament to its success is the fact that staff turnover is exceptionally low. Indeed many of the current employees started life at the company through the scheme and have remained loyal.
Investment in up to date CNC equipment has been fundamental in maintaining Muffett's competitive edge in the marketplace. Working in close partnership with customers has enabled investment in specialist machines that are able to produce the parts or assemblies required efficiently and cost-effectively.
Tony Smith, third generation owner and managing director (once an apprentice himself), carries forward a tradition with the same dedication and passion as his forebears. “We are proud to work alongside some of the most demanding and exceptional clients across a diverse range of industries,” he explained. “Working with clients in sectors such as medical, aerospace, defence and scientific demands the highest standards of product quality and our challenge is to provide the best possible service to our customers.”
A snapshot of Muffett's product portfolio illustrates the diversity of its customer base: state of the art clinical radiotherapy and oncology management systems for the treatment of cancer; mechanical parts for prosthetic limbs; and components for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Muffett Gears will be exhibiting on stand N19 at the forthcoming Southern Manufacturing Show taking place in Farnborough from 15-16 February 2012.
