Blackburn-based group training association, Training 2000 has turned to the proven reliability, build quality and affordability of Colchester Student lathes and Europa milling machines to equip its engineering training facility.

Training 2000 is a charitable trust set up by a consortium of Lancashire businesses and is now one of the largest group of training associations in England. It has over 40 years' experience delivering high quality work-based learning and training programmes to industry and individuals on a national scale, from small engineering toolrooms to large blue chip manufacturers.

All of Training 2000's courses involve tailored classroom instruction combined with practical workshop activities. Additionally, all training is delivered by occupationally qualified and experienced instructors at Training 2000's Engineering Centre of Vocational Excellence and leads to the achievement of an NVQ at level 2 or 3 and a Technical Certificate or Diploma.

600 UK has supplied five of its Colchester Student manual centre lathes together with five Europa manual turret mills to further enhance Training 2000's impressive training facilities for its engineering apprenticeships scheme.

Colchester lathes have a long history and track record for engineering training worldwide. The machines continue to play an important ongoing role in delivering the skills needed by the high technology engineering industry.

With this in mind, engineering apprentices at Training 2000 are benefiting from the centre's investment in Colchester technology by acquiring vital machining skills that Training 2000 believes are essential skills for the future.

Michael Hunt, operations director at Training 2000 said: “We have used Colchester Student lathes for many years and they have proven to be a reliable and effective tool for training our learners. This additional resource has been integral to us accommodating the increasing number of apprentice numbers along with the time they spend on the machines.”

Howard Bamforth 600 UK's sales director, added: “600 UK have a well-established and respected reputation for supplying affordable teaching technology to engineering colleges and other training providers and we are delighted that Training 2000 identified the Colchester Student lathe as the best in the market for training the engineers of tomorrow.
