Terry Turner has been appointed by WH-Lead to be its new area sales manager in the Midlands and North of England.

The company, which has its headquarters in Towcester, is sole sales and service agent in the UK and Ireland for turning centres and vertical spindle machining centres built by Leadwell, Taiwan.

Based in the Sheffield area, Mr Turner holds a BTEC ONC/HNC in Manufacturing Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Open University.

He subsequently benefitted from 18 years of highly relevant experience in the machine tool sector. In 2004 he was employed by a manufacturer of medical and dental products as a CNC machinist, where he obtained his apprenticeship, after which he became a machine tool operator at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC).

He then held several positions in applications engineering, pre-sales engineering and business development at the UK subsidiary of a global metalcutting machine manufacturer and at a prestigious machine tool agent. They both specialise in the sale of machining centres and lathes, so the knowledge gained will prove ideal for assisting Mr Turner in his day-to-day activities at WH-Lead.

At the same time, in his previous employment he acquired in-depth knowledge of additive manufacturing and other advanced production technology. He is not selling such equipment in his current position, so in his new customer-facing role he is well placed to provide impartial advice in these areas to manufacturers and subcontractors.
