Mapal creates new position to support growth

Eugene Nugent has joined tooling specialist Mapal as its new national sales manager.

“We specified a candidate with strong sales, management and technical product expertise and Eugene has certainly brought these attributes to the new role,” stated Mapal UK's managing director Wayne Whitehouse.

"The Mapal brand and product range is evolving at speed and our UK market reach is expanding rapidly, he added. “To facilitate the progression in existing and new target sectors and to ensure our customer support levels are enhanced accordingly, this new role is key to our business strategy.

“Eugene previously worked with Mapal prior to earning invaluable experience within the cutting tool market, so he will certainly be key to implementing new strategies and philosophies that will underpin our business vision and strategy."

With over 25 years’ experience in the cutting tool industry, Mr Nugent served his apprenticeship as a toolmaker at Sandvik in Coventry. Making the next step up the career ladder he then joined Mapal in 1995 and earned valuable experience in a number of internal business divisions before joining another tooling company as an applications engineer working with major automotive and aerospace customers.

With the same organisation, he then progressed his career further by taking on the position of regional sales manager prior to becoming PCD product manager.
