Metrology event hits the back of the net

The Etihad Stadium was the venue for the recent metrology networking event ‘Measure Anything’ that took place at the end of March.

The stadium came alive with some of the industry’s leading metrology companies, Faro, Manchester Metrology, Optimax and Renishaw, all of whom brought their metrology, 3D scanning, Faro arms and reverse engineering equipment.

Attended by over 65 leading engineering firms from across the North West, the event offered visitors the opportunity to discuss the latest technology and innovation surrounding the metrology sector. Metrology technologies were showcased through live demonstrations and visitors were encouraged to bring along parts to be measured with a complete measurement report produced on the day.

Paul Bulman, managing director of local firm Manchester Metrology commented: “It was really great to see such a broad range of engineering firms in attendance, confirming the growth and stability of manufacturing in the region.”

Since its inception in 2008, Manchester Metrology has become a leader in the inspection of engineered components with a record turnover of £1.7 million in 2017. The company aims to maintain future sustainable growth and expansion; in 2017, it invested £700,000 in a range of metrology equipment from Aberlink, Leica and CyberOptics. Staff numbers have more than doubled in size since 2015, from five to 13.

Manchester Metrology’s long-term partnership with equipment supplier Faro and the significant investment in new technology has enabled it to evolve into a UK leader in the inspection of engineered components, offering an extensive range of equipment hire packages and onsite services.
