Metrology matters

A range of innovative metrology solutions will be unveiled by Wenzel UK at MACH.

The Wenzel ScanTec CoRE-DS is a new, dynamic 5-axis white light scanning solution that has been designed for the fast, accurate measurement of turbine blades, aerofoils and blisk type parts.

Wenzel says that the new addition will improve cycle times and remove the need for tip radius compensation when measuring this type of component. The system can be located in a production environment and requires no air so its flexibility in use is a major plus point. Wenzel UK will show a new Renishaw probe – the PH20 – on a Wenzel XO55 CMM. Derived from Revo technology, the new probe minimises CMM motion, thus reducing dynamic CMM errors and utilises rapid ‘head touches' routines that result in improved accuracy and throughput. Wenzel UK will show the PH20 with OpenDMIS measurement software. Martin Hawkins, Wenzel UK general manager comments: “The new PH20 probe is a significant advancement in probe technology. It minimises CMM motion, therefore reducing dynamic CMM errors and its rapid ‘head touches' mean measurement points are taken much faster using only the rotary motion of the head.” Wenzel UK will be offering the PH20 probe as an option on all new Wenzel CMMs as well as a retrofit option with I++ using the OpenDMIS software as the measurement platform.

CT scanning and Mobile 3D laser scanning will also be part of the new innovations on show with the new Wenzel Volumetrik exaCT – a compact industrial CT scanner that enables the full internal and external analysis of components. In addition Wenzel UK will show the MobileScan3d – claimed to be the only CNC non-contact laser scanning system on the market. It is both fast and accurate and can be used for reverse engineering as well as for full inspection to CAD data. Wenzel
