Mettis Aerospace new factory building completed

Aerospace manufacturer Mettis has announced the building structure of its new factory in Redditch, Worcestershire is now complete.

Plans for the new factory were originally reported on in April. The next phase of the project will involve installing six new machines which will be fully automated to run 24 hours a day.

The company plans to start trials for the fully automated production of aerospace components later in the year, and aims to enter production in early 2020.

Mettis has built the factory in response to a number of multi-million-pound aerospace contracts that were awarded to the company. The advanced levels of automation will enable Mettis to further reduce lead times for customers.

The factory will enable the expansion of the company’s machining business. Components produced using the onsite forges will be machined in the factory, reducing processing and transporting time for customers.

The new factory will be the first new facility of this scale Mettis has built in many years and demonstrates its commitment to manufacturing in the UK, creating jobs and investing in its future.
