Taking place at the company’s Technology Campus facility in Leamington, Mills used the open house to showcase a number of new Doosan machines to UK and Irish manufacturers, and to promote a range of recently introduced technology and service innovations to visitors.
Kevin Gilbert, Mills CNC’s managing director, commented: “Our ‘Strokes of Genius… LIVE’ open house surpassed all expectations and visitor numbers were much higher than anticipated.
“As well as generating significant machine tool sales during the two day event the number of serious and genuine sales leads and enquiries taken was also particularly encouraging – especially as a high percentage of these came from new customers (OEMS through to precision subcontractors) visiting the campus for the very first time.”
Highlights of the open house included a number of new Doosan machine tools making their debuts at the event, such as the new Doosan Puma 2600SY Mk II – a 10” chuck sub-spindle, Y-axis lathe that has replaced the and Puma 2600SY Mk I series.
Other technology highlights at the event included a number of challenging and innovative machining demonstrations.
Amongst these was an automation demonstration involving a DNM 5700 vertical machining centre integrated with a Robojob automated workpiece loading/unloading system, and two 5-axis machining demonstrations taking place on a Doosan VC630 5AX and a Doosan DNM350 5AX.
In total there were 16 machining demonstrations organised for the event.
In addition to showcasing its range of Doosan machines, Mills also used the open house to demonstrate the power, flexibility, functionality and convenience of Siemens’ Sinumerik 828D TFT touchscreen control technology.
