Sam Sutton has been appointed sales engineer covering the West Midlands by NCMT, sole agent in the UK and Ireland for Japanese-built Makino machining centres and EDM machines, and Okuma machining centres, CNC lathes and grinders.

The company is also sole European agent for the Blue Photon photo-activated adhesive system for workholding from the USA.

Although he has never worked in sales before, Mr Sutton is no stranger to machine tools. Between 2012 and 2021, he worked in Worcestershire as senior multi-spindle lathe setter, stock controller and cell leader at one of the largest, privately owned subcontract machinists in Europe.

He was subsequently CNC machine operator at a nearby company, working first on automatic, multi-spindle edge polishing machines, after which he was responsible for setting up production machining centres. While in this post, he acquired software-related expertise centred on CAD and post processors.

Other skills gained by Mr Sutton during his various periods of employment include tool making, lathe turning, milling, surface grinding, optical profile grinding, grinding of form tools, gauges and drills, brazing, jig and fixture making, and wire eroding of form tools and cams.
