New milling machine increases capacity for NWP
North West Precision, a division of Arlington Aerospace, has installed a new Deckel Maho DMU 95 monoBlock 5-axis machining centre at its plant in Birkenhead, England.
Manufactured by DMG Mori, the DMU 95 monoBlock will increase Arlington’s capacity to make flying parts, in particular 1m 360° capabilities. The £500,000 investment will enable NWP to take on additional work for global original equipment manufacturers such as Airbus.
Weighing 14.1 tonnes, the DMU 95 is one of the most efficient milling machines available on the market and offers impressive features from the ground up. As well as a 5-axis machining centre, chilled spindle to avoid overheating, and special bearings, the monoBlock makes use of 3D Heidenhain TNC 640 Siemens 840D control systems and an integrated MPC (machine protection control).
Mark Franckel, Arlington Industries Group CEO, said: "The delivery and installation of the DMU 95 sees NWP move forward with even greater effect. We have already been able to pass on the benefits to many of our clients.”
