Phil Brown joins Ajax team

Phil Brown has more than 25 years' experience of sales in the engineering services and machine tool industry, a background in the oil and gas sector as well as the mould and die industry that followed a toolmaking apprenticeship.

It was this background that attracted William Savin, managing director of Ajax Machine Tools International to view him as an ideal fit into the expanding sales and customer support operation of his company.

He said: “We have an expanding range of 5-axis, CNC, conventional machine tools and auxiliary equipment that is helped in the market with a strong engineering and application background from our sales team. This is not only to interface with customers and provide the hands-on technical knowledge, but also to ensure a full support package is in place to meet customer needs.”

Mr Brown is working closely with Ajax's two sales managers, Ian Fenton who operates out of the newly formed Leicester office and Robert Lawrence who is based at the Lymington, Hampshire headquarters. He will cover the area from Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire down to the South Coast.

From his previous sales and engineering positions, Mr Brown has built up an in-depth knowledge of the operational needs of engineering and subcontract companies in the area. This knowledge will form a key part in the company's planned expansion of its machine tool operations and especially the introduction of new products.

“Our planned new machine launches through 2014 are one area but we must not forget our wide range of other equipment that enables us to put together very cost-effective, complete customer packages,” Mr Savin highlighted. “This provides a direct line of support for the likes of training and education sectors and reinforces our ability as a single source of supply for machine tool installations involving ancillary equipment such as chucks, work holding and tooling packages.
