Prima announces new board of directors and CEO

Prima Industrie, a global group in the sector of high technology laser systems, sheet metal working systems and electronic components, has announced a new board of directors has been elected and a new chief executive officer has been appointed.

This comes after Prima announced in August 2022 that Femto Technologies, controlled by Alpha Private Equity and Peninsula funds, had agreed to buy a majority stake in the laser systems manufacturer and eventually delist the company in a deal worth around €129m.

Giovanni Negri has been appointed CEO of Prima Industrie. With a degree in management engineering and a master in business administration from the Politecnico di Milano, since November 2018 Mr Negri has been CEO of CMS, company of SCM Group, a company specialised in the production of multi-axis machining centres. Previously he held, both in Germany and in Italy, several positions of increasing responsibility in SCM Group, Porsche Consulting and Siemens.

The former CEO Ezio Basso will remain on the board of directors and will actively cooperate with Giovanni Negri ensuring an effective handover in our Group.

The company executive chairman, Gianfranco Carbonato, commented: “I wish to thank Ezio Basso, even on behalf of past and new shareholders, for the long-lasting collaboration that allowed our Group to flourish and become what it is today, and welcome Giovanni Negri, wishing him all the best for the new challenge, conscious that significant opportunity of further growth is at our reach.”
