Rainford Precision, experts in micro-machining, will be celebrating the launch of its new V-Series of small end mills from Union Tool at MACH by giving away 300 end mills to show visitors. The offer will be limited to one tool per company.

The giveaways are from two of the five new ranges that make up the new V-Series portfolio – specifically the VCSELB 3mm diameter, two flute, ball nose end mill with 6mm clearance length, and the VHLS 2mm diameter square end mill also with 6mm clearance.

Giving 150 MACH visitors the opportunity to trial the VCSELB 2030-060, Rainford says it is confident that the performance of this long-neck precision end mill will impress users with its UT coating technology that makes it suitable for machining everything from aluminium and copper through to hardened steels up to 55HRc.

Another 150 MACH visitors will have the chance to walk away with the VHLS square-end 2020-060 that incorporates the Union Tools Hardmax coating. Rainford Precision’s says the promotion will undoubtedly yield returning customers when engineers witness the extended tool life, performance and surface finishes with this new range which is priced very competitively for the UK market.

To claim a free tool, visitors to the stand need to give Rainford a business card or fill in a form with contact details, so the company can follow up on the trials done with the tool at a later date. As part of the tool giveaway, the company will be handing out the tools with a feedback form, which it asks users to fill in and return once they have been tested.

A brochure on the extensive V-Series with instructional information on the recommended speeds, feeds and parameters of the tools to yield optimal results will also be provided.

As well as the promotional offer, Rainford will introduce the entire V-Series of square, radius and ball nose end mills that are a complete line-up of high-quality precision tools with 3mm diameter shanks to cater for machine shops undertaking the challenges of small feature machining.

The V-Series is offered in five variants, the promotional offering of the VHLS and the VCSELB as well as the VHLRS, the VHSLB and now the most recent addition, the VHGLB ball nose for machining 55 to 70HRc steels.

The tool designations identify the square, radius and ball nosed options of the solid carbide end mills that have been developed with Union Tool’s Hardmax and UT coating technologies to provide an ideal combination of hardness, durability and heat resistance for machining all types of materials from aluminium to hardened steels up to 70HRc

Manufactured from a super micro-grain carbide with a 30° helix, flat land and optimised geometry that demonstrates extreme resilience when machining challenging materials makes the V-Series is an ideal choice for machining with tool diameters from 0.1mm to 3.0mm diameter.

As part of the range, that will make a UK exhibition debut at MACH 2022, the VHLS two-flute range of long neck square end tools is available in diameters of 0.1 to 0.6mm in 0.1mm increments with 0.8, 1, 1.5 and 2mm diameter tools. All diameters are provided with a 38mm overall length and 3mm shank diameter with a necked clearance length up to 6mm and 16° tapered angle for additional clearance when machining intricate features and surfaces.

Alongside the VHLS square end tools is the VHLRS long neck radius range of two-flute corner radius end mills. Manufactured from a standardised 3mm shank with 38mm overall length, the VHLRS is available from 0.2mm diameter to 2mm with a necked clearance length from 1mm up to 6mm. Corner radius choices are from 0.05mm up to 0.2mm.

For profiling applications and parts that demand the utmost in precision, the 2-flute VHSLB range of ball nosed tools is available from 0.1mm diameter up to 3mm diameter.

Except for the smallest R0.05 tool, which has an effective flute length of 0.3mm, every tool diameter in the VHSLB range is offered with a wide variety of effective clearance lengths up to 8mm long.

Rainford Precision will also be launching two more new ranges of PCD and ceramic cutting tools at the show. Other high-quality ranges of cutting tools will also be on the Rainford Precision stand from brands such as Louis Bélet, Hobe, DTS, Delmeco, Gloor, Osawa, Iwata and Atom.

Representatives from Rainford Precision and its principals will be on hand to discuss precise machine tool solutions from Kern, laser micro machining from Lasea as well as micro waterjet machining technology from Finepart.
