Following a recent visit to its Newcastle under Lyme factory by a group of industry leaders, KMF received confirmation that its drive for manufacturing excellence is delivering the desired results.

The visit, part of Inside Manufacturing Enterprise's (IME) regular company visit programme designed to highlight best practice in manufacturing was attended by representatives of engineering and manufacturing companies from across the Midlands. The feedback received by KMF gave the company the joint highest score in the programme's history (for a first visit) with each guest marking the visit as 9.3 out of 10 on average.

“The visit by IME and the subsequent feedback from our industry peers has provided welcome justification for continued investment in our site, capital equipment, staff development and production processes,” commented Terry Stanway, KMF's purchasing manager. “What was highlighted in the feedback was the positive attitude and application of all of our staff coupled with the visual evidence of our progress in implementing continuous improvement and staff development throughout the business. Our target now is to continue to develop as a business, improve on what we have already achieved and monitor the comments when we host a second IME visit later in 2010.”

According to KNF, over 90% of the visitors that attended the event witnessed events/processes that they would like to implement in their own manufacturing facilities, with several suggesting that it would act as a catalyst for their businesses.
