Demonstrating its commitment to the nuclear manufacturing supply chain, SolidCAM UK has become a Tier 2 member of the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC).

Becoming a member of the influential Rotherham-based centre allows SolidCAM UK to become a supplier of choice to the global civil nuclear industry, by being part of the prestigious collaboration of its academic and industrial partners.
SolidCAM UK, based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, provides its manufacturing customers with a full powerful suite of CAM modules, including installations, standard and custom post-processors, training, and full support using state of the art technology.

Jay Shaw, deputy machining group manager at the Nuclear AMRC stated: “We see SolidCAM as being one of our key manufacturing partners. They are ideally suited to support the Nuclear AMRC and our manufacturing partners, with their innovative, advanced machining modules such as iMachining. We hope this to be a long and lasting and growing partnership.”

Led by The University of Sheffield, The University of Manchester and a group of industrial partners, the Nuclear AMRC combines university innovation and industry expertise to help British manufacturing companies compete for nuclear contracts worldwide.

Having already heavily contributed to the SolidCAM Group's significant worldwide user base of 16,500 seats plus, with contracts from small and medium sized engineering and manufacturing companies through to large aerospace and automotive organisations, SolidCAM UK believes it is well positioned to provide expertise in world leading CAM technology to the nuclear AMRC's members.

SolidCAM can provide modules such as iMachining that claims up to 70% reduction in CNC machining time and dramatically extend tool life over traditional machining techniques.

Gordon Drysdale, managing director of SolidCAM UK added: “We want the UK to be world leaders in manufacturing capabilities including those within the nuclear industry and we are therefore delighted to announce the collaboration with the Nuclear AMRC.

“It's a mutually beneficial partnership too – the Nuclear AMRC has unrivalled access to world-class research capabilities and the entire nuclear supply chain.”
