Starrag and Walter announce productivity event

Starrag UK and Walter GB join forces to stage the Aero Structure Machining Day at the AMRC

Two of the biggest names in aerospace manufacturing solutions will demonstrate high productivity aluminium and titanium machining strategies when in Sheffield on Wednesday December 3rd.

The event will illustrate how the most cost-effective machining methods can be achieved by combining high quality machine tools with best in class tooling technologies.

In addition to a turbine blade being machined on a Starrag LX051 machining centre using cryogenic cooling – the innovative coolant process developed jointly by Walter GB and Starrag – there will also be a series of machining demonstrations involving the production of a variety of complex workpieces on Starrag STC 1250 (titanium) and Scharmann Ecospeed (aluminium) machining centres.

Tooling specialist Walter will focus on its tooling system solutions for the aerospace sector, including tools for the machining of landing gear support beams, flap tracks, pylons, wing ribs and turbine blades, as well as new the generation of tooling specifically designed for titanium and aluminium machining.

Delegates to the event will also have the opportunity to tour the AMRC and Nuclear AMRC facilities where Starrag UK has a number of high profile machine installations.

Places at the event are limited: please email kerry.udall@starrag.com.
