A stock of more than 16,000 standard stainless steel items at the Sandvik distribution centre in Halesowen, West Midlands, helps service on-demand and scheduled supply requirements

for stainless steel and advanced alloy materials to customers throughout the UK and worldwide.

The distribution centre stocks and distributes an extensive range of stainless steel from seamless tube and pipe to welded tube and pipe and coiled tube, seamless hydraulic and instrumentation tubing, heat exchanger, boiler, high precision, high temperature and fertiliser tubing, solid round bar, hollow bar and billets. It also holds one of the largest stocks of fittings, flanges and elbows, such as butt weld fittings, flanges, forged fittings and threaded fittings in a wide specification and size range. This gives it the ability to supply complete system packages for the most demanding projects and all materials are supplied with mill test certificates.

To supplement its local stock availability, the UK distribution centre is able to draw on Sandvik's global resources with manufacturing and distribution centres worldwide and stock replenishment on a daily basis.

An experienced technical team of industry specialists are on hand to assist, visit and advise customers – backed by support from Sandvik's global R&D centres whose pioneering material development identifies needs and creates solutions; devising new materials for known end uses, finding new applications, or improving the properties of existing materials. A dedicated office in Aberdeen offers local technical support and expertise to companies servicing the oil and gas industry.

Industries serviced vary from power generation, including sustainable energy, marine and offshore to defence and aerospace, electronics, automotive through to refinery and pharmaceuticals as well as foundries, machine shops and engineering companies.

Stainless steel bar and hollow bar for machining is stocked in a wide range of grades, including duplex and super-duplex stainless steels and in the Sanmac improved machining material grades. Deliveries are consistent batch after batch, ensuring operational capability and performance standards are not compromised for customers.

Sandvik SAF 2507 (UNS32750) super-duplex is available in sizes from 20mm to 250mm, delivered in random lengths or cut to fixed lengths. The solid and hollow bar is supplied peeled turned, polished or rough machined, fully-certified to NORSOK M650.

“We also supply austenitic grades 304/L and 316L and a majority of products in duplex grades Sandvik SAF 2205, super-duplex Sandvik SAF 2507, Sandvik 254 SMO (UNS31254) and Sandvik 2RK65,” explains Haydn Eagle, Sandvik regional sales manager. “Our seamless tube products not only meet the relevant standard but exceeds it, ensuring our customers always obtain the very best in terms of operational reliability, corrosion resistance, cleanliness, hardness, control and dimensional tolerances.” Duplex and super-duplex stainless steel pipe supplied by Sandvik is fully approved to NORSOK standards, developed by the Norwegian petroleum industry to ensure adequate safety, value adding and cost-effectiveness for petroleum industry developments and operations.

A comprehensive range of additional services is offered by Sandvik, including cutting to size, packing, colour coding, marking, stencilling, vibro-etching and electro etching, PVC coating, spectrotests and hardness testing including full documentation, mill support operations, bevelling, and full project management.
