Bowers Group has announced the launch of a new range of heavy-duty universal hardness testers with six position turrets.

The flexible Nexus 8000 Series can be used for all Rockwell, Superficial Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers and Knoop hardness procedures. In addition, the bench-mounted testers are able to perform ball and indentation hardness testing on materials such as thermoplastics, and can also undertake Vickers depth (HVT) and Brinell depth (HBT) procedures. The new testers meet or exceeds DIN, ISO, ASTM and JIS standards and cover hardness testing test forces from 1kgf/9.8N to 3,000kgf/29kN.

Equally at home in laboratory situations for quality control sample testing, or on the shopfloor for use on flat and cylindrical workpieces such as castings and forgings, the robust yet precise testers can be used effectively across a wide range of materials and applications.

The new additions are based on a new load cell, closed loop force feedback system, whilst the user interface and integrated camera, featuring calibrated zoom functions, guarantees fast, accurate Vickers or Brinell measurement that cannot be influenced by the user.

The operating system, Impressions, incorporates manual and automatic measurement for all scales, image editing, file storing, image storing, report printing, turret operation, manual or automatic focusing and many other advanced functions. The firmware converts to three different hardness (and tensile) scales simultaneously, whilst conversions can be set to material and standard (ISO/ASTM/GB).

All Nexus 8000 data can be copied or exported into MS applications, such as Word, Excel, or to a report generator that is able to email test results directly to a workstation or server. In addition, all data can be accessed over the LAN or WLAN connections.
