thyssenkrupp Materials UK has partnered with one of the world’s leading suppliers of pre-anodised material and is now offering continuous anodising on flat rolled aluminium products, whilst still in coil form, alongside a convenient de-coiling to size service.
The pre-anodised aluminium sheets are classed as high quality, added-value product within the construction and architecture market in the UK and can be used for all types of solid panel building façades, composite, honeycomb and insulated panels, rainscreen cladding and other complex structures such as perforated panels or expanded mesh.
The product has exceptional dimensional capacity, offering a wide range of different gloss levels, textures and colours. In addition, these colours can be applied to finishes that are brushed, embossed, bright or matte. This is possible through the process of continuous anodising of aluminium, which allows an unmatched level of consistency, ensuring the colours and finishes look the same throughout all of the coils produced.
Liam Fielding, architectural product manager at thyssenkrupp Materials UK, comments: “With the UK architectural market becoming more and more competitive, we recognised the need to provide our customers with high quality aluminium sheets that deliver a consistent look and finish, yet are lightweight to help reduce construction costs.
“Moreover, with the UK Government bringing an end to unsafe cladding with multi-billion pound intervention and funding the work to urgently replace fire-risk cladding by introducing a developer levy to recoup cost, our A1 Class fire rated aluminium sheets are completely non-combustible.
“This means that they can be used in facades of all heights (including those over 18m), without further testing (provided that all the other materials within the wall are also A2 classified or better). Therefore, our pre-anodised aluminium sheets are the perfect solution for replacing non-compliant ACM, HPL and timber cladding.”
The commitment of thyssenkrupp Materials UK can also be observed in the company’s recent investment in a brand new cut-to-length line. The line is dedicated to the processing of both coated and uncoated aluminium coil into sheet. With a maximum width of 1,500mm and lengths up to and including 6,000mm, this allows the business to support the further developing demand within architectural applications for larger panels.
A precision leveller, automatic stacking system and in-line vinyl coating applicator allows thyssenkrupp Materials UK to tailor the service to customers’ individual needs.
