Volkswagen rewards Formaplex

Volkswagen AG has awarded Formaplex its Group Award 2016, a recognition of the company’s best suppliers worldwide.

During June in Berlin, 240 guests attended the ceremony where suppliers were awarded based on their overall performance during the previous year.

Mathias Müller, CEO of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, and Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, member of the group board of management responsible for procurement, handed over this year's Volkswagen Group Awards to the highest performing 21 suppliers. The winners were recognised for their innovative strength, product quality, development competence, sustainability and professional project management.

The 2016 Award was presented to Michael Last, managing director of Formaplex who commented: “We are extremely proud to be recognised as one of Volkswagen’s most important business partners. This distinction acknowledges our outstanding excellence and contribution to the success of Volkswagen AG.

“We have been particularly appreciated for addressing customer needs and our flexibility as well as not being afraid to invest in new technology to further extend our competitive position. Our support has helped enable a reduction in the weight and complexity of door systems within the group, thereby making a significant contribution to reducing project costs.

Formaplex has become one of the world’s leading providers of tooling and lightweight component solutions,” he concluded. “Being the only UK company to achieve this prestigious award in 2016, we are also delighted to be at the forefront of the British manufacturing industry.”
