New cutting tool grade from Walter opens up new applications

2 November 2020 • In Video

With the new Tiger·tec Gold PVD grade WSP45G, Walter has introduced a cutting tool material that pushes the boundaries of these coatings: both in application and materials machinists can work with them.

Potential fields of application for the new grade include demanding machining tasks, such as materials with difficult cutting properties, tricky conditions and interrupted cuts. In the case of milling, these challenges could also be long overhangs or delicate clamping arrangements; with drilling, inclined entries and exits.

Depending on the material and application, the new grade achieves performance improvements of up to 75%. For turbochargers in cast steel, fasteners and chassis parts in titanium or components in nickel-based alloys as encountered in the automotive, energy and aerospace industries, the WSP45G grade is an ideal problem solver.
